Anker’s 737 smart charger hits the market

Anker, the fast charging solutions brand, recently reported on the benefits of its new GaNPrime charging technology and the first products to incorporate it. This new standard, based on the firm’s advances with gallium nitride (GaN) and other proprietary features, can offer higher performance along with lower power consumption, to charge compatible devices quickly, intelligently and safely.

This is the Anker 737 Charger

On the occasion of the launch of GaNPrime, the firm launches two new models on the market. The Anker 737 Charger, with 120W of power and three ports (two USB-C and one USB-A), which we have analyzed, stands out for its small size and is available for about €95 in black, white and rose gold.

The equipment that also stands out for its attractive design, integrates 3 ports and is compatible with devices such as MacBook Pro/Air, iPad Pro, Galaxy S22/S21, Dell XPS 13, Note 20/10+, iPhone 13/Pro and more.

In use, it is surprising for the speed of charging and for the absence of heating, even in the event that three devices are charged at the same time in each of the ports that it incorporates: 2 USB-C ports and one USB-A port, for for example phone, tablet and laptop all at once from a single charger. If a single device is connected, it will charge up to 100W.

It stands out for working up to 26 minutes faster, thanks to PowerIQ 4.0 technology that has Dynamic Power Distribution, capable of detecting the power needs of connected devices and automatically adjusting the power for fast and efficient charging.

With ActiveShield 2.0, Anker’s patented technology, protection is enhanced by intelligently monitoring temperature over 3 million times a day and adjusting power output to protect connected devices.

The product and its good features are of special interest at a time when many brands no longer include the charger in their products, following in the wake of Apple with the iPhone, so the user must provide themselves with this accessory, Anker’s advantage in that scenario is the speed, compatibility and good price.

Along with the charger, USB cables compatible with PowerDelivery and fast charging of up to 140W have been made available to customers. They support up to 80 kg of weight and have a durability up to 35 times greater than a conventional cable. Its price is €29.99 and €32.99, for the one meter and two meter versions, respectively.

Applied technology

Gallium nitride (GaN) is a material used in modern satellite and radar systems. In 2018 Anker used it to develop smaller, lighter and more efficient chargers. GaNPrime takes advantage of the third generation of GaN technology adding advantages such as being environmentally friendly.

Anker engineers have improved AC (Alternating Current) power transmission to DC (Direct Current), so users reduce energy consumption when charging their devices, with a positive effect for both the environment and for your wallet.

According to studies available from the firm itself: “If each resident of the United States used a GaNPrime charger for a year, the energy savings achieved would be enough to cover the needs of Hawaii for an entire month.” Another notable advantage is that, thanks to the new generation of PowerIQ 4.0, compatible with more than 1,000 devices, the chargers automatically detect the power needs of each connected device and adjust the power output in real time to charge them simultaneously to the Maximum speed. This saves up to 1 hour in charging time.

Also note that ActiveShield 2.0 improves security intelligently monitoring the temperature up to 3 million times a day, preventing overheating to protect the electrical installation and connected devices.

It should not be forgotten that GaNPrime chargers are especially compact thanks to their stacked design and Anker’s GaN mini-transformer technology, reducing their size by up to 53%.

Gallium nitride is very popular in the aerospace industry where it is used to create batteries for solar panels on satellites that are launched into orbit. The advantage is that it produces much less heat and allows you to send much more voltagewith less risk of overheating.
